Lawrence E. Single's Obituary
Lawrence E. Single, 94, of Tolland, CT, beloved husband of the late Kate A. (Lees) Single, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 23, 2026.
Born in Johnstown, PA, Larry was the son of the late Wasko and Mary (Kovalsky) Single. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he worked various jobs, eventually retiring from the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Connecticut.
A devoted provider, Larry was a hard worker who often held two jobs to support his family. He took great pride in caring for his home and enjoyed working outdoors, especially gardening and stone work. He loved traveling with his wife, attending bluegrass festivals, listening to country music, and cheering on the UConn women’s basketball team.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Libby Single, Kathryn Bowser and her husband Tom, and Susan Robinson; his sister, Marion Single; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Patty Tucker, and his brothers, Joseph, George, and Raymond Single.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Road, Ashford, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Philip Cemetery, Ashford, CT.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tolland Fire Department, 191 Merrow Road, Tolland, CT 06084.
