Eileen Chandler
I loved listening to Lee sing (I, typically, stood 1-2 steps in front of him in high school chorus and choir). Our senior year at Windham, I was asked to sing the national anthem for the Willington Memorial Day services. I am an "okay" singer, but not a soloist. So, I asked a few other Willington members of the WHS chorus to sing. Lee was my first call and he said "sure" immediately. We had a practice at my house and we were running through the bass part (apparently, Lee had never listened to it). I was singing it with him when he stopped and looked at me with an odd look, so I said "What?" He said "you can sing lower than I can". It wasn't meant as an insult or a compliment; only his observation. It cracked me up! He was such a sweet and gentle soul! RIP, Lee! My condolences to your family!
