Leo J. Joyal's Obituary
Leo J. Joyal, 73, of Willington, CT passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 surrounded by love with his family at his side. He was born in Providence, RI and grew up in Coventry, RI, son of Leo Joseph Joyal and Frances (Kusiak) Joyal. Prior to his retirement, Leo worked as a Tool Maker at Hamilton Standard for 34 years and was a member of the Rockville Elks Lodge No. 1359. Leo enjoyed camping at Lake Champlain and was an avid angler. He had a life long love for motorcycles, specifically his Harley, and never missed an opportunity to ride with friends. During his retirement, Leo discovered a love for cooking and spent many hours trying new recipes and grilling techniques.
He is survived by his loving wife, Erin (Gibbons) Joyal; his sons, Kevin Joyal of Vermont, Christopher Joyal and his wife Melissa of Enfield, CT; his sister, Geraldine Penta and her husband Frank; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Helgerson and her husband Lee; stepsons, Kyle Desmond, Spencer Desmond and his partner Beth Vorsheimer, William and his partner Kera Danforth; grandchildren, Ashley Sheridan and her husband Nathan, Ariyah, Addilyn and Parker Desmond. He was predeceased by his first wife of 43 years, Sandra (Kusiak) Joyal; and his daughter-in-law, Laurie Joyal.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Willington Hill Cemetery, Tolland Turnpike, Willington, CT., followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Rockville Elks Lodge No. 1359 at 9 North Park Street, Rockville, CT 06066.
