Leslie F. Platt's Obituary
Leslie F. Platt, 75, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 20, 1948, in St. Helen’s, England, son of the late Harry and Lucy (Grice) Platt. He immigrated to the US on the Queen Mary at 7 years old. He became an American citizen in grade school, went on to graduate from Prince Tech High School in Hartford. He joined the United States Army along with his three best friends in 1969, right after graduation. Les was on active duty for four years with the 2nd Infantry, including time stationed in South Korea then transitioned to the 76th Infantry Division in the Army Reserves for the remainder of his 33 1/2-year military career before his retirement in 2008. Les became an auto body repair man and worked for Stebbins Autobody in West Hartford and Connecticut Autobody in Bloomfield until his full retirement in 2010. He loved spending time with his family on vacations to Canada, going on fishing trips to Vermont and spoiling his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working on his 1972 Ford Maverick Grabber and going to monthly breakfasts with his Army buddies. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings John Platt of England, Derrick Platt of New Britain, Ronnie Platt of New Britain, Agnes “Nancy” (Platt) Martin of England and Mary (Platt) Markoski of New Britain. Les is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Diane (Courtois) Platt of Stafford Springs; two children, Susan Gelinas and her husband Michael of Bedford, NH, and Brian Platt and his wife Sheryl of Stafford Springs; seven grandchildren, Chris, Tim, Nick, Jack, Cloey, Logan, and Landon; two great granddaughters, Madison, and Nolani; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses and techs of the 2nd floor at Johnson Memorial Hospital for the amazing care they provided in his final days. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. A visitation will also be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT.
