Lillian LaFemina's Obituary
Lillian A. (Hipsky) LaFemina, of Willington, CT, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2009 in the farmhouse she called home for all her life. Lillian was a hardworking, strong, brave and fiercely independent woman who loved life and took great pride in farming her land. Her motto in life was "live life to the fullest for life is just what you make of it". She loved to laugh and have fun and found her greatest joy in her family's happiness. Lillian loved and respected nature and all its gifts. She especially enjoyed watching the many wild birds at her birdfeeders. Butterflies, humming birds and honey bees were her favorites. She found the beauty in all things and appreciated every plant and flower on her property including the so-called weeds. Along with the everyday responsibility of running a home and farm, she was also a successful business woman who owned and operated a tire business with her husband for over 40 years. Lillian was a loving wife, cherished mother and devoted grandmother who valued her family above anything else. She leaves her husband of 51 years, Ralph LaFemina; daughter Brenda LaFemina-Weber and her husband Greg Weber and grandpuppy Odin, of Willington; her son Philip LaFemina and his wife Melissa; grandchildren Thomas William, Emily Grace, Carson James and Lily Katharine of East Lyme; two great aunts, Katherine Holda of Monson, MA and Velma Duhansky of Willington; and, many, many cousins. She was predeceased by her mother Mary Hipsky and grandmother Katarin Hipsky who raised her and taught her the work ethic she followed all her life. Special thanks to the VNA East/Hospice of Vernon, CT for the compassionate care they provided. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 11 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, with the Reverend Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in Moose Meadow Cemetery, Willington, CT. Calling hours are on Monday from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of charitable donations, the family asks that Lillian's mourners honor her by spending time loving their families and enjoying life just as she did.
