Lucille S. Guerra's Obituary
Lucille (Safranek) Guerra, 92, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed peacefully to be with her Lord on September 5, 2023. Lucy was born on March 6, 1931 to the late Charles and Bertha (Heyduk) Safranek of Willington, CT. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Guerra, her sister, Laura (Tiziani), and her twin brothers, Arnold and Clifford Safranek. Lucille leaves her daughter, Holly Such and her husband Ken, her son, Larry and daughter-in-law Deb (Russak), sister-in-law, Vilma Osada, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Lucille grew up in Willington, CT, and after marriage, became a long-time resident of Stafford Springs, CT. She worked many years in the office of Home Pride Provisions (best hotdogs ever made!), and often entertained family and friends with stories of coworkers, cattle farmers and all those she interacted with. After retiring, Lucy remained very active. She loved bird watching, swimming, canoeing, hiking, camping, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, even into her 80’s. She was a life-time member of the Nipmuck Trail Riders Snowmobile Club, was in the Lucky Strike bowling league, and was bookkeeper for the Stafford Seniors Travel Club, enjoying the many trips they went on. She was a member of the Golden Tones, where she often took the lead in events, coming up with all sorts of costumes. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, over the roughest roads, even during the worst weather. Lucy was known for her unbounding energy, determination (not stubbornness) and optimism. She the ability to find the only blue patch in a totally cloudy sky! She would often quote her Dad “Better days are comin’”!. She will be missed by all. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, with a memorial service to take place at 12:00 PM, at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT, will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stafford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 275, Stafford, CT 06075.
