Mae (Jacobsen) Hill's Obituary
Mae L. (Jacobsen) Hill, 98, of Stafford Springs passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Evergreen Health Care Center. She was born on April 8, 1914 in Woonsocket, RI, daughter of the late Alfred and Ada (Pritchard) Long. Mae graduated from Stafford High School with the class of 1932 where she was captain of the basketball team, and was on the tennis team. Mae worked for many years for Connecticut Filter Corporation (CUNO). She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing piano, and going to the races at Stafford Speedway, and, in later years, watching NASCAR races on TV. She moved to Florida in the mid 70's, where she lived for 30 years before moving back to Stafford Springs to be near her family. Mae was predeceased by her first husband Andrew Jacobsen; second husband Richard Hill; sister Lena Wood; brother James Long; and sister-in-law Alice Long. She leaves a son Kenneth Jacobsen and his wife Arlene of Tolland, CT; grandchildren Tisha Libbey of West Springfield, MA, Ross Jacobsen and his wife Sara-Jean of Wilbraham, MA, and Kevin Jacobsen of Tolland, CT; great grandchildren Jade Libbey and Ryan Jacobsen; nephew James Wood of St. Petersburg, FL; a special niece Nancy McCavanaugh, of Manchester, CT; and several great nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 5-6 P.M. with a funeral service to take place at 6 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will be held privately in Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, FL. Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Tumor Foundation, 95 Pine Street, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10005-4002.
