Maggie (Ekenbarger) Pain's Obituary
Maggie (Ekenbarger) Pain, 68, passed away peacefully at the home of her adoring niece, Tina (Ekenbarger) Wehr, on Saturday, September 25, 2010. She was surrounded by those she loved in her final days, especially her son Dan, who gave so much of himself during her illness. Maggie was born on December 20, 1941, daughter of the late Ray and Barbara (Dart) Ekenbarger of Stafford Springs, CT. She graduated from Stafford High School in 1959, and worked for the State of Connecticut as a tax auditor until her retirement. Maggie was a fun loving person. She enjoyed music and was an accomplished singer. She was quick witted and immensely loved being with family. She enjoyed a game of chance now and then along with yahatzee and cribbage. A loving mother, sister, and aunt, Maggie is survived by her son, Dan Lopez and his girlfriend Monika Boecker of Nanuet, NY; sisters Ruth Kennedy of Sun City, FL, Barbara Crane of Somers, CT, and Emily Cutler of Somers, CT; brothers John Ekenbarger and his wife Barbara of Nashua, NH, Ray Ekenbarger and his wife Joyce of Lebanon, ME, William Ekenbarger of Sun City, FL, and Bruce Ekenbarger and his wife Peg of Stafford Springs, CT. In addition, she leaves her Goddaughter, Lori and Grand Godson, Garrett of Oyster, VA; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Maggie was predeceased by her brother, Del Ekenbarger; and sisters Nita Simons, Marilyn Briarcheck, and Eunice Malone. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 2-4 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a reception at Sun Valley Restaurant, Old Springfield Rd., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maggie’s favorite charity, Toys for Tots, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
