Marcel E. "Geff" Goepfert's Obituary
Marcel E. “Geff” Goepfert, 77, of Tolland, CT, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born in Holyoke, MA, son of the late Marcel and Leonie (Dillenseger) Goepfert. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Andover, MA. Geff was founder of Willington Nameplate in Stafford Springs, CT, a company he was tremendously proud of that just celebrated its 50th Anniversary. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 59 years, Sheila (Rainaud) Goepfert; four children, Stephen Goepfert and his wife Doreen, Michael Goepfert and his partner Mary Ahern, Lynn Dwyer and her husband Jeffrey, and Lisa Cretella and her husband Sal; and ten grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Daniel, Brian, Joseph, Margaret, Emily, Olivia, Samuel, and Delilah. He leaves behind many who loved and respected him, as well as countless others who were impacted by his compassion and loyalty. He was predeceased by several long time friends and partners in crime, most especially Ty and Andy. Geff was a legend to all who knew him, but never identified himself or carried himself in that way. While a man small in stature and short on words, his impact on his children, grandchildren, friends, employees and community was big. His heart was bigger than he, himself. His grandchildren have been praised for being his grandchildren. He was a respected and humble businessman, a loyal friend and a man generous beyond words. He gave endlessly to his family and those he loved and gave much to many. He will be painfully missed by many. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 12-3 P.M. with a funeral service to take place at 3 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut, 386 Main St., Middletown, CT 06457, American Diabetes Association, Connecticut Chapter, 2080 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067, or Tolland High School Scholarship Fund, One Eagle Hill, Tolland, CT 06084.
