Prayers and condolences for the Scussell family. I have many fine memories of math at SHS because of Marilyn.
Mrs. Scussel was a fine teacher who always made everyone feel welcome and was always eager to help us better ourselves. RIP Marilyn!! you have earned it.
Mano & Family - We are deeply sorry to learn of your loss, and our prayers are with you.
I had Mrs. Scussel for Geometry. I was lost and confused and she spent extra time explaining it to me. I finally got it and the things I learned helped me throughout college and during my engineering career. Another interesting note, she taught my mom math too. She was just starting as a teacher when she taught my mom.
Mano, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Dear Mano,
So very sorry to hear of Marilyn's passing. She was one of my favorite teachers in High School. She taught me geometry and I loved it.
You may not remember me. I am the youngest daughter of Johnny & Olga Panciera. I spent lots of time on your parent's farm, when I was a child.
Please extend my sympathies to your family.
Marilyn was the perfect combination of stern and witty, secure about her work but gentle in her teaching, with a sense of propriety yet selfless in her dealings with students, sometimes generous beyond what we were used to. The visible lovely style of the person was always matched by the sparkling personality.
Indeed, Mrs. Scussell was the consummate professional: always in control of her classroom, yet respectful of her students, able to share a joke and honest to the core. She once said to me, "Anyone observing you in the classroom would expect you to fail, yet you get the top grade on every test."
Thanks to everyone for sharing their memories. It means the world to the family. I have printed out all of your messages and am sharing them with Dad. He will be so touched.
