Sorry to be so late signing in; I am not very oriented toward social media.
In a life lucky in good & great teachers, no single one has had more effect on me than Mrs. Serafin. My father admired her from high school days as Young Enterprise, single-handedly introducing cheerleading to Stafford High in the late 1930s. To my mother, she was an example of low-key, tasteful Style, unfailing poise. To me, she was the channel for High Culture in Stafford Springs, CT--those trips to NYC, & here I am. She introduced 3 lucky kids to their first experience of live professional theatre on a trip to the Bushnell. I wish I had sometime treated her back in the days when I took a season subscription to the Joyce Theatre. I was glad anyway to meet her for lunch once, after I had landed in NY. The both-adults conversation could have gone on, I am sure!
I see from Google Maps street level views that the Stafford Dance Academy is looking spruce & healthy on its rather arty block, on Main Street! I hope that's the case. She worked for its survival & deserves that manifest legacy. Hers was a wonderfully effective, truly teacherly life!
