Mary L. Busse's Obituary
Mary Lillian Busse (Kendall), 87 of Willington, CT passed from this world on April 13, 2024. Mary was born on October 7, 1936 to the late Clayton H. Kendall and Elizabeth Kendall (Mihancki) of Ashford, CT. She was predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth (Bettye) Goodwin of Ashford and Priscilla Barry of Mansfield.
She leaves to mourn her death and honor her life, her husband of 71 years, Charles R. Busse Jr of Willington. In addition to her husband, her children will always remember their mother with much love, Charles (Chuck) and wife Bonita (Pelletier) of Willington, Peg Busse and wife Deb Lynch of Ellington, Jean and husband William Grace of Sarasota, Florida and Cheri and husband Kevin Williams of Hebron. In addition, she leaves her Grandchildren Kaitlyn Timreck (Williams) and husband Erick, Jordan Lamarre and wife Josie (Borysevicz), Christina Williams, Shannon Williams, and Xander Williams. She also will live on in her Great Grandchildren, Lillian Timreck and Laney Lamarre. She adored many neighbors, especially Jeff Adams and Georgine Dumont who she treated as extra children. Additionally she leaves beloved cousins, several nieces and nephews, and good friends.
The center of Mary’s life was family, she so loved babies. This was seen in all the homemade goodies she made, canning everything from their large garden and maintaining a loving home for everyone. Her children will always remember returning from school to a house that smelled of delicious food, who can forget her fried chicken. She was known as the caretaker, a role she readily embraced. Everyone was always welcome in her home as long as “they take us as we are”. She also loved her birds, especially cardinals, and would spend hours watching them at the feeders. The last several years were difficult but Mary lived these with grace.
The family would like to thank all of the First Responders who answered the call in early February when Mary fell at home. This fall ultimately contributed to her death and the family is grateful for everyone who treated her with compassion. We especially want to thank the staff at Evergreen Healthcare and Trinity Hospice.
