Mary S. Lirot's Obituary
Mary (Sampugna) Lirot, of Ashford, CT, wife of the late George E. Lirot, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. She was born in Waterbury, CT, daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina (Agosta) Sampugna. Mary had worked in the insurance industry as a secretary, and was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Church in Ashford, CT, and St. Edward Church in Stafford Springs, CT. She will be remembered as a sweet, generous, and kind soul. She is survived by her three children, Mary Lirot-Mejza and her husband Daniel, Georgianna “Gigi” Lirot, and Westford Lirot and his wife Erin; six grandchildren, Jessica Venezia and her husband David, and Katherine, Jacob, Shannon, Lukas, and Haeley Lirot; two great grandchildren, Giavanna and Nicolo Venezia; sister, Italia Louise (Sampugna) Tortorelli; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sampugna; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Joseph Sampugna. Calling hours are on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 5-7 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Rd., Ashford, CT. She will be laid to rest beside her husband on their anniversary in St. John Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
