Mary A. Pelrine's Obituary
Mary A. Pelrine, 74, of Storrs, CT, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 25, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born in Washington D.C., daughter of the late James D. and Mary D. (Emmons) McElheron. She grew up in Binghamton, New York with her six siblings and plentiful cousins, whom she remained close to throughout her life. Mary often fondly recalled her time in the theater - acting, costuming, and especially singing. The eldest member of the McElheron Family Singers, she enjoyed arranging harmonies to favorite songs and hymns and leading the group in performances. She continued singing throughout her life - at church, in the community, and at home. She was an exceptionally hard worker in all of her endeavors and spent many years as a purchaser in the aerospace and industrial fields. But first and foremost, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who lived out her Catholic faith in every aspect of her life and supported many souls in their pursuit of the Lord. She retired to Mansfield with her husband in 2014 and enjoyed many years there, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She will be terribly missed by all of us, but we trust in the mercy and grace of the Lord she taught us to love above all things and look forward to being reunited with her one day in heaven. Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Ronald Pelrine; five children, Anne Pelrine, Joseph Pelrine and his wife Mary, Lawrence Pelrine, Lisa Gillon and her husband Lincoln, and Regina Pelrine; four grandchildren, Lila, Liam, Luke, and Lochlan Gillon; sisters Elizabeth Traceski and her husband Mark, Rosemary Antunes, Cecilia Mattingly and her husband James, Teresa Scanlon and her husband Mark, Marie Hoelzer and her husband Raymond, her brother Rev. J. Daniel McElheron; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 1600 Main St., Coventry, CT. Burial will follow in St. Philip Cemetery, Ashford, CT.
