Michael J. Lockward's Obituary
Michael J. Lockward, 48, a beloved resident of Tolland, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, surrounded by his cherished family after bravely facing a seven-year battle with Appendix Cancer. Born on January 9, 1975, in Hartford, CT, Mike grew up in Amston, attended Hebron Elementary, RHAM Middle and High Schools, and pursued his higher education at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business.
Devoted to his faith, Mike was an active member and former Deacon at the United Congregational Church of Tolland, where he dedicated himself to his spiritual community. He extended his passion for sports as a coach for the Tolland Soccer Club, extending his love of the game to those he coached. A committed enthusiast, he found immense joy in cheering for the Raiders and Red Sox (especially with his girls) and treasured moments fishing and exploring Cape Cod, the Connecticut coastline, and Outer Banks with loved ones.
In addition to his loving wife, Carolyn (Mercury) of 22 years, his daughters Lauren and Morgan, and their beloved puppies, Olive and Hattie (and Emmy too), Mike is survived by his parents, John and Linda Lockward, siblings Todd Lockward with his wife Eilis, Erin Lockward with her husband Christopher Brooks, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Mike will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 12:00 PM at the United Congregational Church of Tolland, 45 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT. A reception will be held at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to Good Sports, an organization that provides all kids with the lifelong benefits of sport and physical activities by providing essentials to those in need.
