Michael J. Tremko's Obituary
Michael J. Tremko, 91, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Evergreen Health Care Center. He was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late Michael W. and Mary (Evans) Tremko. Mike was in the National Guard for three years, where he received the Presidential Unit Citation and the Sharp Shooters Medal. He then joined the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict for four years, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Following his time in the Air Force, Mike worked at TV repair businesses in the area while also operating his own TV repair business in Stafford for 27 years. He also worked for the Connecticut Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer in Enfield for 21 years, retiring in 1985. After his retirement as a Corrections Officer, he worked as a Security Guard at Johnson Memorial Hospital for 20 years. He was a member of St. Edward Parish, a Team Manager in the Stafford Little League for eight years, and a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed fishing, the beach, playing cards, being outdoors, and all the trips to Aruba and the casino. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Veronica A. (Mihaliak) Tremko; four children, Veronica D. Introvigne and her husband Joseph of Stafford Springs, CT, William M. Tremko of Willington, CT, Debra L. Smith and her husband Brian of Tolland, CT, and Linda M. Barno and her husband Thomas of Stafford Springs, CT; nine grandchildren, Joseph Introvigne, Jr. and his wife Kristin, Sara Kelley and her husband Stephen, Michael Introvigne and his wife Alessandra, Erica Tremko, Steven Tremko-Bellante and his fiancé Meredith Leva, Kevin Tremko-Bellante, Jonathan Smith, Daniel Garrell and Nathan Garrell; six great grandchildren, Megan, Joseph, Luke, Alba, Michael and Giuliana; brother, John Tremko of Sequim, WA; sister, Gabrielle “Ella” Lazzerin of Stafford Springs, CT; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his step-mother, Gabrielle Tremko; and brother, Joseph Tremko. His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 with a procession forming at 10 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
