Natalie K. Higgins' Obituary
Natalie K. Higgins, age 73, of Ashford, CT passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Natalie was born on April 16, 1945 in Hartford, CT, to parents Helen Orlowski and Victor Champ. She is survived by her two daughters, Lianne Mcgillicuddy of Lebanon, CT and Jennifer Higgins of Ashford, CT; her significant other of 34 years, Richard Dore of Ashford, CT; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Mcgillicuddy, Alyssa Pacheco, Kayla Pacheco, Ryan Mcgillicuddy, Nicholas Enzor, Daniel Reis and James Reis; she is also survived by her two brothers, Victor Champ and Johnnie Champ; sister Casi Carey; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Natalie is predeceased by her mother and father, Helen Orlowski and Victor Champ. Natalie graduated from Rockville High School, and then went to nursing school to become a registered nurse through St. Francis Medical School. Natalie worked for Pratt and Whitney and was one of the only women working there. Later, Natalie accepted a position as a supervisor as an underwriting processor at Hartford Steam Boiler, where she worked for 30 years. Natalie was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She had a kind heart and would do anything for the people she loved. Natalie loved to draw and had a dream of being a cartoon artist. When she was a child she enjoyed dancing and listening to music with her family. Natalie loved going to the beach, especially Old Orchard and camping with her family. In her spare time she would crochet and do jigsaw puzzles. Natalie’s family will always remember her as a loving, selfless, beautiful soul. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Living Proof Church, 38 Pompey Hollow Rd., Ashford, CT 06278. The service will be followed by a potluck dinner located in the building behind the church, please bring a dish to share with everyone. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Natalie’s life.
