Nathan B. Swift's Obituary
Nathan B. Swift, 86, of Union, CT, passed away peacefully at St Francis Hospital on July 21, 2023. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Beverly (Hetu) Swift. Nathan was born on August 17, 1936 in Providence, RI to the late Alice (Booker) and Nathan B. Swift. He settled in Union with his beloved wife Beverly to raise their family. He is survived by his children: Jeffery L. Swift and his wife Roslyn and their son Zachary; and Cheryl A. Cyr and her husband Gary Cyr, and their daughter Cara (Cyr) Dong and her husband Michael Dong. He also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Liam and Charles Dong; and many cousins and nieces. Nathan was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed attending races over the years with many friends. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 11 years and an active member of the Union Volunteer Fire Department for over 60 years. Nathan contributed in his spare time to many committees in town. He was a selectman for 25 years, Chair of the Republican Town Committee, Chair of the Board of Finance, Minroc Board member, and NE Health District. In his retirement years, he helped the town seniors with rides to appointments. He enjoyed sharing photos with every one of his great grandchildren, who brought him so much joy. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 2:30-4:00 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a graveside service at 4:30 P.M. at Union Center Cemetery, Cemetery Rd., Union, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Union Volunteer Fire Department, 1049 Buckley Highway, Union, CT 06076.
