Olga Toman's Obituary
Olga D. Toman, 92, of Monson Rd., Stafford Springs, CT, beloved wife of the late John Toman, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at her home. She was born in Yonkers, NY, daughter of the late Karp and Poligia (Marchona) Devartek. Olga worked at various mills throughout her career, retiring from Cyril Johnson Mill in Stafford Springs. She was devoted to her family and was always there when they needed her with unwavering support, advice, and love. Olga lived her life putting others needs ahead of her own. As a young girl, she left school to stay home and help her mother take care of her younger sister Helen. She lived a simple life and took great pleasure in the little things that made life so special ? a pretty flower, a colorful sunset, a gentle rain for the garden. She loved her flowers most of all, sometimes weeding at 5 A.M. before she went to work or after work until darkness set in. No one who knew her will forget her skills in the kitchen. She loved to bake and had thousands of recipes. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her and remembered with fond memories. Olga is survived by her three children, John Toman and his wife Priscilla of Enfield, CT, Virginia Gingras and her husband Paul of Vernon, CT, and Barbara Lortie and her husband Ronald of Stafford Springs, CT; seven grandchildren, Deneen Gahr, Lori Haynes, Peter Gingras, Rosemarie Gallichio, John Hatch, Christopher Hatch, and Sarah Lortie; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut, Hospice Program, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066. A special thank you to Sarah and Tina, who put aside their own lives to help care for Gram so that she could remain in the home she loved so much. Thank you also to Dan Walker and Deidre of Visiting Nurse Health Services of Connecticut for their care and support. Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, has care of the arrangements. For online condolences, please visit: www.introvignefuneralhome.com
