Omer Giroux's Obituary
Omer Giroux, 80, formerly of South Windsor, CT and Stafford Springs, CT, husband of the late Lucille (Roy) Giroux, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Kettle Brook Care Center, East Windsor, CT. He was born in Quebec, Canada, son of the late Wilfred and Marieann (Poulin) Giroux. In his younger years, Omer was a lumberjack before coming to the United States in 1957. He then worked in construction for many years. Omer was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 5779 in South Windsor. He loved the outdoors, chopping wood, gardening, playing cards, and above all, his family, especially his grandchildren. Omer is survived by his daughter, Nancy Cloutier-Giroux Marryat and her husband David Marryat of Enfield, CT; two grandchildren, David and Stephanie Marryat; three siblings, Jeanette Veilleux, Laurena Veilleux, Bruno Giroux; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mariette, Blanche, and Rene Veilleux; and two brothers, Denis and Berthe Giroux. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 12 Noon at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
