Patricia (Bradley) Vonasek's Obituary
Patricia (Bradley) Vonasek, 87, of Willington, CT passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Stafford, CT, daughter of the late Edward J. and Edith (Douglas) Bradley. She was a graduate of Windham High School and the Springfield Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse, serving the patients of Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford for over five decades, ultimately retiring as the Head Nurse in charge of the Same-Day Surgery Department. In 2008, she was awarded the prestigious Florence Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing. Pat shared a passion for boating with her beloved husband Ted and they spent many happy hours on their boats in and around Mystic, CT. Her family meant everything to her and she always looked forward to the times that she could spend with them. Pat also enjoyed following sports and she was particularly passionate about attending any athletic contest in which her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren took part. In addition to basketball, volleyball, softball, and gymnastics, Pat could often be found at horse shows both local and distant, supporting the young equestrians of the family. She loved all animals and she spent many happy hours watching and taking care of her horse, “Best of Times” aka Buddy. Pat also loved to follow her favorite sports teams in the news and on television, rarely missing a broadcast of the UConn Huskies, the Red Sox, the Patriots, or the Celtics. Patricia is survived by her children, Joanne V. Yandow(David), Debra V. Fraser(David), and Ted Vonasek; grandchildren, Carly Fraser Doria(Matt), Courtney Fraser Williams(Brian), Tricia J. Yandow Gregory(Nick), Morgan M. Yandow, Taylor Vonasek Marcella(Katie), Stephanie D. Yandow, David W. Yandow, Brooke A. Vonasek, Ashley Burns Carlson(Nate), and Troy Burns; great grandchildren, Zadie, Luca and Kit Doria, Brooke, Grace and Emmet Williams, and Palmer Marcella; sister, Joyce Guardo; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Bradley; brother-in-law, Kenneth Vonasek(Gayle); In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ted Vonasek; brother, Barry Bradley; and brother-in-law, Victor Guardo.
