Pauline R. Backhaus' Obituary
Pauline Rose (Freitag) Backhaus, 87, of Ashford, CT beloved wife of the late William H. Backhaus, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Mansfield, CT. Pauline was born on April 16, 1930 and raised in Hartford, CT. She was the daughter of the late Otto and Rose Freitag. Pauline enjoyed gardening and living on the water at Lake Chaffee. Pauline was active in the Ashford community in many ways and was an avid UCONN women’s basketball fan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Pauline is survived by her sons, Bill and Tim and wife Donna; her grandchildren, Kimberly, Amanda, and Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Rylan and Analiese; her brothers, John and Herman; and a sister-in-law, Helen. Pauline was predeceased by her brothers, Walter, Archie, Marty, Freddie, and Al; and a sister, Ruthie. Pauline also leaves many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Mansfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the incredible care they gave to Pauline and for the support given to the family. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4-7 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 328 Village Hill Rd., Lebanon, CT. Burial will be held privately in Westford Hill Cemetery, Ashford, CT. The family requests that donations may be made to the Ashford Senior Center, 25 Tremko Lane, Ashford, CT 06278.
