Perry W. Caldwell's Obituary
Perry William Caldwell, 78, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born in Muscatine, IA, son of the late Arvene and Helen (Wright) Caldwell, and spent his early years in Galesburg, IL. Perry served our country in the United States Navy in the underwater demolition team during the Vietnam era. He was also part of the recovery dive team from the USS Lake Champlain that secured the Freedom 7 capsule when Alan Shepard returned from outer space in May 1961. He retired having worked in sales for most of his career. Perry was a parishioner of St. Edward Church, and a member of the Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff American Legion Post No. 26, where he was the former Chaplin. Perry is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Kathleen (Mullins) Caldwell; two children, Shawn Caldwell and his wife Jennifer, and Kelly Caldwell-Kellerman; four grandchildren, Michael, Courtney, Katie, and Caley; sister, Sally Lynn Mullaney and her husband Richard; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Ann Ketcherside; and brother, Thomas Caldwell. His funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 11 A.M. at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post No. 26, 10 Monson Rd., Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
