Raymond C. Scussel, 91, of Wethersfield, CT, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Born October 14, 1920 in Stafford Springs, CT, Ray was the son of the late Angelo and Teresa Scussel. He is survived by his loving son Evan P. Read Obituary

Extending my dearest sympathies to your family. My husband and Ray were good friends and spent many hours on the golf course.
I knew Ray at UCONN when Ray and I played on the varsity Baseball team. one day, after winning at Wesleyan University, in Middletown, CT, Ray and Walt Dropo were late boarding the bus on Middletown Main Street. I guess that they both had a glass of beer. When Ray arrived and boarded the bus, with J.O. Christain, the Head Baseball Coach, sitting in the front seat, Ray said, "You can always tell a gentleman by the shine on his shoes". Reading Raymond's obit, brought back some fantastic memories of a fantastic person. He will be missed by many. I remember being at the football game watching Raymond play (that was referred to in the obit)

My father, Larry Hutnick, shared Ray's company in his home for many a basketball game and football game and truly enjoyed his company. I remember him remarking about how my father would just let himself in-because his door was never locked, and realize now how that action really fit Ray. I had the opportunity to meet Ray a few times and he was always upbeat and helpful. A genuinely good guy.
He shall be missed.
