Reginald "Reg" E. Farrington's Obituary
Reginald “Reg” E. Farrington, 80, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 after a short but brave fight with cancer. He was born in Andover, ME, son of the late John E. and Lila B. (Murphy) Farrington. Reg worked at the former Stafford Printers and retired from TYCO as a foreman. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Brenda (Spiller) Farrington; daughter, Terri Owens and her husband Carl; five grandchildren, Daryl Owens and his wife Katie, Audrey Owens, Desiree Morrison and her husband Mike, Tanner Farrington, and Carli Farrington; nine great grandchildren; sisters, LaVerna White, Geraldine Parise, June Trenoweth and her husband Danny, Carole Nelson, and Bonnie VaShaw and her husband Keith; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Reginald E. Farrington, Jr.; brother, Frank Farrington; and sisters, Gloria Farrington and Linda Theriault. Reg found joy in helping his family, friends, and strangers alike. He was known for dropping everything and being there for anyone, anytime. He was adoringly referred to as, the “Mayor” of the neighborhood and anyone younger than him just called him Gramps. From helping his neighbors clean out their garage to helping his grandson re-shingle a roof, there wasn’t anything Reg wouldn’t at least show up to and be grounds crew or support. His passions were a good deal on a lawnmower and mowing lawns, for those who otherwise couldn’t do it themselves or afford to pay a landscaping company. He enjoyed yearly trips to Maine with his wife and never missed an Andover Olde Home Days Celebration, dreaming about the day he might own a 1955 Ford Fairlane. When Reg found time to relax you could find him watching a baseball game and rooting for the Red Sox. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 12-2 P.M., with a memorial service to take place at 2 P.M., at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will take place privately in Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. To leave a condolence online for the family, please visit: www.introvignefuneralhome.com
