Richard A. Bednar's Obituary
Richard A. Bednar, 60, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Gary, Indiana, son of the late Stephen J. and Dorothy (Drevyanko) Bednar. Rick proudly served our country in the United States Army, and retired from the United States Postal Service as a postal supervisor. His hobbies included fishing, dominoes, cribbage, and reading factual stories about history. He was a member of the West Stafford Fire Department, Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff Post No. 26 American Legion, Wreaths Across America, Enfield Hooah, Oath Keepers of Connecticut, and co-founder of Stars for Troop Connecticut. Rick was a great friend to many, and will be missed greatly by all. Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Brenda (Shackway) Bednar; his son, Stephen A. Bednar; his sister, Paula Bednar; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Indiana. In addition to his parents, Stephen and Dorothy, Rick was predeceased by his younger brother, Michael Bednar. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service to take place at 7 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Full Military Honors will conclude the services at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
