Richard L. Caldarelli's Obituary
Richard L. Caldarelli, 74, of Hartford, Connecticut passed away on September 2, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones following a long health battle. He was born January 4, 1949 in Hartford to loving parents Raymond and Isabelle (Ricciardiello) Caldarelli. Richard graduated from Northwest Catholic High School in 1967 and received his BA degree in history at St. Michael's College in Burlington, Vermont, with plans of becoming a history teacher. However, his journey took a different path as he discovered his love for photography. Dick dedicated himself as a full-time wedding photographer at BOWERS & CALDARELLI. He went on to establish his own freelance wedding photography business, capturing cherished moments for countless couples. Dick's love for American history led him to visit many historical sites, especially the historical Gettysburg battlefield. Those who knew Dick best saw firsthand his hilarious sense of humor and how he could effortlessly crack a joke and bring laughter to any situation. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, antiquing, cooking and tending to his garden. The fruits of his garden were always plentiful and it was not uncommon for Dick to show up with an abundance of fresh tomatoes and veggies to distribute to family and friends. The family gratefully recognizes Pat Morris, for her devotion and loving care during his illness. Richard "Dick" Caldarelli will be remembered for his creative spirit, his commitment to preserving memories through the lens of his camera, and his caring and generous personality. Through his photography, he leaves behind a legacy of beautifully documented love stories and a lifetime of cherished memories. Richard is survived by his mother, Isabelle Caldarelli of Hartford, CT, his longtime partner, Pat Morris, his sister, Renee and her husband John Fabrizio of Framingham, MA, his brother, John and his wife Diana Caldarelli of South Kingstown, RI, his sister, Tina Caldarelli of West Hartford, CT, his sister, Lisa Caldarelli of Hastings, NY, his sister, Donna and her husband Robert Burke, of Hebron, CT, his sister, Mia Riedler of Green Brook, NJ, his uncle, Lee Ricciardiello of West Hartford, CT, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
