Richard F. "Dick" Hartenstein's Obituary
Richard F. “Dick” Hartenstein, 82, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 surrounded by family. He was born in Rockville, CT, son of the late Elmer, Sr. and Roberta (Kaddy) Hartenstein. Dick was a United States Navy veteran, and retired from U.S. Air as a manager after 34 years of employment. After retirement, he worked for Laidlaw Bus Company and the Town of Stafford as a truck driver. Dick was a past president of Stafford Youth Football, life member of and past president of Stafford Fish and Game Club, member of the Italian Benefit Society, and member of the First United Methodist Church. Dick lived his life for his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cutting wood, barber shop quartet music, and going out to breakfast with the guys from U.S. Air after retirement. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Lois (Hoyt) Hartenstein; two children, Beth Gallison and her husband Scott, and Richard F. Hartenstein, Jr. and his wife Amy; two step children, Sonia Valdez and her husband Julio, and Erika Wiecenski and her husband Derrick; nine grandchildren, Katie, Rachel, Sarah, Tiffany, Catalina, Alexandra, James, Jacob, and Kyle; five great grandchildren; sister, Nancy Ravetto and her husband Jim; brother-in-law, Tom Muzio; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Elmer Hartenstein, Jr. and his wife Jean, Diana Hartenstein, and Jane Slater and her husband Ken. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 9:30-11:00 A.M., with a funeral service to take place at 11:00 A.M., at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT.
