Richard J. Locke's Obituary
Richard J. Locke, 84, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Evergreen Health Center after battling for months with multiple health issues. He was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late Joseph and Louise (Ramponi) Locke. Rich served our country in the United States Army Reserves for eight years. He worked as a carpenter, builder and master craftsman for 30 years at Matteson Lumber Company in Stafford Springs and later moved on to other woodworking specialty companies in the Rocky Hill area. Rich continued to practice his craft long after his “official” retirement – his list of projects was ongoing and ambitious. His favorite hobbies – telling stories, and “anything to do with trains” are widely known to his family and friends. Rich is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ruth (Kaleta) Locke; three children, daughter Susan Locke and Brian Prucker, daughter Sally Woods and her husband Jeffrey, and son Christopher Locke and his wife Lisa; son-in-law Michael Hebert; six grandchildren, Devon and Kianna Woods, Michael and Mathieu Hebert, and Benjamin and Cameron Locke; four siblings, Kenneth Locke and his wife Doris, Jane Kennedy, Janet Bellante and her husband John, and Linda Hoyt. He was predeceased by his daughter, Ann Marie Hebert; and his brother, Ronald Locke. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 9:30-11:00 AM, with a memorial service to take place at 11:00 AM, at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT.
