Richard F. Shaffer, 80, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Evergreen Health Care Center, Stafford Springs, CT. He was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late Frank T. and Mary Theresa (Vavro) Shaffer. Richard retired from Dean Machine in Manchester as a machinist. He is survived by two children, Richard L. Shaffer and his wife Deborah of Stafford Springs, CT, and Susan Amy and her husband Sam Powell of Roanoke, VA; two grandchildren, Jeremy Shaffer and Meghan Powell; two step grandsons, Michael and Robert Cloutier; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A calling hour will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 7-8 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT, will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made to Evergreen Health Care Center, 205 Chestnut Hill Rd., Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
