Richard "Ricky" Swift's Obituary
Richard V. “Ricky” Swift, 76, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born in Stafford Springs, CT he was the son of the late Robert F. and Sophia A. (Dunay) Swift.
Ricky dedicated much of his life to his work as a manager of the family business, Swift Auction Co., Inc., where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. Outside of his career, he was a passionate collector of NASCAR memorabilia for over 50 years and rarely missed a race. He also found great joy in building die-cast model cars and tractor trailers, carefully gluing, painting, and hand-pinstriping each piece with remarkable attention to detail.
Above all, Ricky cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his craftsmanship, and his lifelong enthusiasm for the hobbies he loved. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jewell A. (Walker) Swift; his three children, Michele L. (Swift) Syphers, Shawn R. Swift, and Christopher E. Swift and his fiancé, Stephanie Oleksak; his seven grandchildren, Brandon, Madlyn, Ashley, Hayley, Dawson, Jaden, and Coleston; his sister, Roberta Passardi; his brother-in-law, David Bohadik; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ricky was predeceased by his sister, Marlene (Swift) Bohadik, and his brother-in-law, Leo Passardi, Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, with a prayer service to take place at 6:00 PM, at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT, will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Shriners Children’s, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
