Robert J. Smith Jr.'s Obituary
Robert J. “Bob” Smith, Jr., 83, of Stafford Springs, CT, beloved husband of the late Jean (Gilman) Smith, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Robert J. Smith and Geraldine (Morrill) Smith. Up until his retirement, Bob worked for 60 years as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife and created many cherished memories during their trips to Maine and on cruises together. He also had a lifelong passion for old muscle cars, especially Hemi-powered classics.
He is survived by his son, Michael Smith; his grandson, Dakota Smith; his siblings, Chuck Smith, Rosemary Gagnon and her husband Clifford, Dan Smith, and Geraldine Smith; many nieces and nephews; and his grand-dogs, Jack and Albert. In addition to his wife, Jean, Bob was predeceased by his son, Patrick Smith, and five siblings.
A calling hour will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, with a funeral service to take place at 11:00 AM, at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Edward Church, 27 Church St., Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
