Roland Labreche's Obituary
Roland G. "Pin" Labreche, 84, formerly of Stafford Springs, CT, beloved husband of the late Frances H. (Cook) Labreche, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his son's home in Shrewsbury, MA. He was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late William J., Sr. and Marguerite (Perras) Labreche. Pin was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a member of the 97th Infantry Division 386th Regiment Comp. G 3rd Platoon. He saw combat service in France, Germany, and Czechoslovakia. After VE Day, he was transferred to the Pacific Theatre. Pin served in Cebu and Leyte Phillippines, and was part of the "Army of Occupation" in Japan. Pin was employed by Warren Woolen Company and Cyril Johnson Woolen Company. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Stafford Springs as a letter carrier, was promoted to assistant postmaster, then promoted to postmaster in Somers, and eventually returned to Stafford Springs as postmaster where he retired in 1979. Pin was a member of St. Edward Parish where he was a lector, member of the Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff Post No. 26 American Legion, past president, secretary, and treasurer of the Workers Federal Credit Union for 8 years, and member of the Stafford Rotary Club where he was a past president from 1984-1985. Pin is survived by his six children, Dustan Labreche and his wife Lauren of Shrewsbury, MA, Duane Labreche and his wife Jeri of Albuquerque, NM, Michelle Solomon and her husband Marty of Newton, MA, Marla Stallmann of Hartland, VT, Tama Hampton and her husband Paul of Warren, NJ, and Byron Labreche and his wife Mary Ann of Chicopee, MA; 19 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; two brothers, Bill and Fr. Casey Labreche; two sisters, Jeannine Brisard and Jackie Pero; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, William Labreche, Jr.; a brother, Lionel "Chink" Labreche; and a sister, Rita Sonski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 10 A.M. at St. Edward Church, High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Sunday from 3-6 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT.
