Ronald W. Lortie's Obituary
Ronald W. Lortie, 68, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Northbridge, MA, son of the late Donatien and Laurette (Couture) Lortie. Ron attended the local schools in Whitinsville, MA. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He was ranked as a Corporal in the 1st Marine Corps District, and was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Expert Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with two Stars, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation. Prior to retirement, Ron had worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, Warren Woolen Company, Cyril Johnson, and Amerbelle Corporation. He cherished his animals, and loved riding his Harley. He kept his circle small, but those he let in, he loved fiercely. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara (Toman) Lortie; five children, Thomas Lortie of Whitinsville, MA, John Hatch of Noank, CT, Christopher Hatch and his wife Tammy of Stafford Springs, CT, Linda Platt and her husband Robert of Millville, MA, and Sarah Schultz and her husband Kevin of Stafford Springs, CT; ten grandchildren, John, Kaitlynn, Damon, Allison, Meggan, Joey, Jacob, Katelyn, Joshua, and Nathan; great granddaughter, Summer; sister, Elaine Plante and her husband Charles; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
