Roy W. Turner's Obituary
Roy W. Turner, 98, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 12, 2026. Born in Fort Fairfield, ME, Roy was the son of the late Walter and Ada (Bellefleur) Turner. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, Roy enjoyed a long career as a machinist with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, retiring after many years of dedicated work.
Roy was known for his remarkable work ethic and his love of staying busy. Whether tending his garden, working on the farm, or creating projects in his woodworking shop, he was happiest when he was working with his hands. As those who knew him often remarked, Roy would go to work and then come home to work. His determination, industrious nature, and willingness to help others were qualities that defined his life.
Above all, Roy was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, June (Tanner) Turner; his sons, Daniel Turner, Jeffrey Turner and his wife, Cindy, and David Turner; his grandchildren, Steven, Rachel and her husband Joseph Strahowski, Melissa and her significant other Joseph Plourde, and Becky; his great-grandsons, Shaun and Aaron; and his sister, Doris. In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by his siblings, Preston, Clarence, Evelyn, Ray, Shirley, and Phyllis.
Roy's legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Military Honors and burial will be held for Roy on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA.
