Russell Scott Giller, 63, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Russ was born to Gordon M. Giller and the late Joan V. Giller in Northampton, NY on November 19, 1952. Russ grew up in South Windsor, CT, graduating from South Windsor High School in 1970. He received a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut. He worked in various enterprises until finding his home in the aerospace industry where Russ worked very hard developing various coatings for high heat jet engine parts, holding numerous patents in his name. Over the last fifteen years, Russ owned and managed his own landscaping business and enjoyed working for himself. Developing many great relationships over the years with his customers, he derived great joy from helping them with their needs. He also held a special place in his heart for all the people that worked with him, especially George. Throughout his life, Russ never was hesitant to live each moment, and was a friend to all he met. Russ loved people, fishing, artsy stuff, nature, animals, cooking, and eating, but most of all, his family and friends, and his beloved pets, Charlie and Smokey. His favorite spot to enjoy nature to take in all its beauty was in Niantic and his occasional fishing trips to Block Island in the fall and family vacations to Cape Cod. He loved flowers and especially Elizabeth Park where he often stopped to smell a rose or two. Russ was very proud of his nieces and nephews and could always be found fooling around with them, especially at family gatherings; they all held a special part in his heart. Russ is missed tremendously already, his gentle spirit and beautiful soul will live on in our hearts with all the wonderful memories that we shared. Beside his father, Gordon M. Giller, Russ is survived by his girlfriend, Holly Pattison; his brother, Michael Giller and his wife Nancy of Overland Park, Kansas; his brother, Daniel Giller and his wife Susan of Cromwell, CT; his brother, David Giller and his wife Deirdre McPadden of Willington, CT; his sister, Julie Murphy and her husband Kevin of Windsor Locks, CT; his nieces and nephews, Holly and her husband Mike, Shannon and her husband Frank, Daniel and his fiancé Amy, Chelsea, Kienan, and Braeden; and his great nephews, Mikey, Caiden and Cameron.
