Sandra M. Lusa's Obituary
Sandra Mae (Panciera) Lusa, 80, of Vernon, CT, wife of the late Peter Lusa, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 7, 1938 in Stafford Springs, CT, daughter of the late Romano and Alice (Carocari) Panciera. Sandy was known for being a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She made the world a little better everywhere she went with her smile and quick wit. Known for her generosity, she brightened the world with small acts of kindness and had a soft spot in her heart for children. One of her greatest passions was cooking; whether it was her famous risotto, polenta and toccio, or Easter bread, she was always happiest serving a big meal to hungry people. Early in life, she was an avid tennis player and skier. Once their children were grown, Sandy and Peter enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. She loved the beach, especially when family could share in the experience, and took every opportunity to be by the water. Sandy loved collecting antique miniatures and crafting, some of which she sold from her store, The 1790 Shed in Ellington, CT. Sandy is survived by her three children, Peter Lusa, Jr. and his wife Ginger of Pomfret Center, CT, Beth Ann Sarkisian and her husband Scott of Stafford Springs, CT, and Jennifer Dawson and her husband Ed of Greenbrook, NJ; six grandchildren, Amy, Katie, Emily, Zac, Liz, and Eddie; two siblings, Claudia Clapprood and her husband Robert, and Peter Panciera and his wife Sue; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Myleen Titterton. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital for the loving care they gave Sandy in her last days. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. with a prayer service to take place at 2:00 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will be held privately. In honor of Sandy, a 17-year cancer survivor, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Relay for Life of Northeast Connecticut, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
