Sandra C. Oborski's Obituary
Sandra Cesana Oborski, 75, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. As a lifelong resident of Connecticut, she was born in Hartford and raised in Glastonbury, the daughter of Annie Cesana (Gutt) and the late Edmund Cesana. While attending Glastonbury High School, a chance encounter led to the happy marriage of 57 years to Jerry S. Oborski. Soon after marriage, Sandy and Jerry purchased a home in a newly built neighborhood in West Stafford where they raised three children, surrounded by a close group of neighbors who became their lifelong friends. They took great pride in putting their children through college and instilling a strong work ethic and a sense of family. Sandy was known for her nurturing and caring nature. She spent many years assisting elderly residents in the community. She worked as an administrative assistant at Infinity Graphics in Ellington and later retired as an assistant to the Town Clerk for the Town of Enfield. She always cherished the many friendships she formed with her coworkers and the community. Sandy was happiest when hosting loved ones, traveling with her children and grandchildren, and decorating for the holidays. She always looked forward to her yearly trips with Jerry to Cape Cod where they enjoyed seafood dinners and sunsets on the beach. She was an avid reader and will be remembered for her fondness of Polish Pottery and Vera Bradley handbags. Without a doubt, the pride of Sandy’s life were her six granddaughters. She could always be counted upon to lend a hand whenever needed. She especially enjoyed hosting sleepovers to spend time with her granddaughters while baking treats, attending pretend tea parties, and playing with American Girl dolls. She spent her golden years enjoying countless piano and dance recitals, as well many soccer, softball, and rugby games. Her children and grandchildren take comfort in knowing that her loving heart and caring nature will remain a part of them always. Sandra is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Oborski; her mother, Annie Cesana (Glastonbury), and two brothers, Edmund (East Hartford) and Ronald (Glastonbury); three children, Lisa Gorman and her husband Matthew (Ellington), Lori Purcaro and her husband Michael (Ellington), and Justin Oborski and his wife Christine (Littleton, MA); and six granddaughters, Kelly, Allison, and Emily Gorman, Caroline Purcaro, and Laci and Cheyenne Oborski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT. All those who wish to pay their respects are welcome. A private burial will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Glastonbury. Memorial contributions may be made to Smilow Cancer Hospital/Yale Cancer Center (www.yalecancercenter.org/gifts).
