Sherwood "Woody" T. Bothwell Jr.'s Obituary
Sherwood “Woody” Turkington Bothwell, Jr., P.E., 90, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away July 3, 2023. He was born in Hartford, CT, son of the late Sherwood and Mae (Leshay) Bothwell. He studied civil engineering at UCONN and was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. Woody served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He and his wife lived in Portland, CT for 44 years before moving to Stafford Springs. He retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation as Chief of Design Services after a 36 year career. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time outdoors,camping, hunting and fishing. He was a long time member of the Belltown Sportsmen’s Club and the Stafford Fish & Game Club. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Woody is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Judith (Howe) Bothwell; three children, Lisa Bothwell and her husband Arthur Abowitz, Scott Bothwell, and Jennifer Bothwell; and three granddaughters, Sarah and Jessica Abowitz, and Autumn Johnson and her husband Zachary. He was predeceased by his sister, Elaine Bothwell. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will be held privately at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill, CT. Memorial donations may be made to Ducks Unlimited at donate.ducks.org.
