Shirley H. "Sam" Gardner, Jr., 70, of Grant Ave. Extension, Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs, CT. He was born in Windsor, VT, son of the late Shirley H., Sr. and Leona (Burke) Gardner. Sam retired from CUNO as a line operator. He was also a member of New Life Tabernacle Church in Windsor Locks, CT. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Katy M. (Beasley) Gardner of Stafford Springs, CT; five children, Ronald Gardner of Holyoke, MA, Victoria Torres of Westfield, MA, Kathleen Caldwell of Southwick, MA, Mark Gardner of Stafford Springs, CT, and Cathy Steullet of Stafford Springs, CT; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Hutchins of Windsor, VT; a half-sister, June Smith of Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Danny Gardner; and a sister, Mary Martin. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 7-8 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Funeral services and burial will be held privately and at the family's convenience.
