Silvio Dadalt's Obituary
Silvio S. 'Red' DaDalt, 84, of Stafford Springs, CT, beloved husband of 59 years of Edith (Salvador) DaDalt, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. Silvio was born on November 4, 1922, the son of the late Domenico and Louise (Talamini) DaDalt. He was a lifelong resident of Stafford Springs, CT. Silvio served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star for exemplary service. He was a local business man and was owner/operator of DaDalt Paint & Wallpaper Company which was founded by his father in 1938. Silvio retired from the paint store in 1984. He was a very active member of the Stafford Lions Club for 54 years and was a past president. He was awarded the highest honor of Lionism in 1994 by receiving the Melvin Jones Award. He truly enjoyed helping people and serving in his community. He was actively involved at Johnson Memorial Hospital since 1977 on various boards and committees. Silvio was elected Chairman of the Board in 1990 and served for 17 years. Silvio also served as trustee at Stafford Savings Bank from 1983 to 2006. He was a past president of the Tolland County Chamber of Commerce. Silvio was also a member of St. Edward Parish, the Rev. Felix J. O'Neil Council # 1395 Knights of Columbus, honorary lifetime member of the Italian Benefit Society, and member of the Stafford Fish and Game Club. In 1999, he was presented the Stafford Citizenship Award for Outstanding Service in the Community. In his youth, he enjoyed singing and was a member of the Stafford Barbershop Quartet. Silvio's greatest joy and pleasure came from spending time with his loving family. He and his wife spent many of their retirement years in Florida during the winter months. He was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed golf, and many family vacations at Cape Cod. Besides his beloved wife, Silvio leaves his three loving children, Diane DuBaldo and her husband David of Manchester, CT, Dennis DaDalt of Stafford Springs, CT, and Dawn O'Neil and her husband Peter of Willington, CT. He will be dearly missed by his five grandchildren, Dominic and Dawn DuBaldo, Ellen, Erin, and Mary O'Neil. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria LePore and her husband Humbert of Stafford Springs, CT; his brother-in-law, Lino Salvador of Springfield, MA, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Pokorny, Olga Piccoli, and Dora Mandak. He will be greatly missed by all. A funeral will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2006, with a procession forming at 9 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Edward Church, High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Friday from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
