Stanley Wojno's Obituary
Stanley Joseph Wojno, 90, of Somers, CT, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008. He was born in Akron, OH, son of the late Julian and Valentyna (Korsevieslen) Wojno. Stanley was a graduate of North High School and attended Akron University and American International College in Springfield. Stanley then graduated from Air Command and Staff School in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and former Commander of the Air Force Reserve Base at Bradley Field in Windsor Locks. During World War II, he served as a transport pilot in the China, Burma, India Operation. In 1994, Stanley received commendation and Chinese Air Force Wings from the Republic of China. He was also a past president of the Somers Rotary Club in 1988. Stanley is survived by three sisters-in-law, Mary Wojno, Jean Wojno, and Virginia Forney; a brother-in-law, Ralph Limpach; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Stanley J. Wojno, Jr.; four brothers, Walter, Roman, Karl, and George; and two sisters, Mary Buffington and Joan Limpach. Funeral services with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron, OH, will be private. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
