Theodore S. Martin's Obituary
Theodore S. Martin, 88, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 at home with his family by his side. He was born on August 5, 1926 in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late George and Clara (Laurion) Martin. Ted served in the U.S. Navy on the SS Jeremiah O’Brien, a Liberty ship, during World War II. He married the love of his life Evelyn (Artruc) on August 28, 1948. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this year. Ted was a volunteer for the West Stafford Fire Department having served for nine years as Assistant Chief. He was a master carpenter and retired after 20 years from the Connecticut Department of Corrections where he worked as an industry supervisor. Ted enjoyed 31 years of his retirement with his wife Evelyn spending winters at their home in Sebastian, Florida. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. Two of his proudest moments were shooting a 77 at the age of 77 and winning the Massachusetts Sport Fishing Award in 1998 for a 5 lb., 15 oz. landlocked salmon. Ted’s greatest joy was his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed dearly by all who loved and adored him. Ted is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Daryl and Carol Martin of Montville, CT and Dale and Jacqueline Martin of Somers, CT; five grandchildren, Alissa Sievers, Tiffany Rindell, Dustin Martin, Lindsay Baghramyan and Ashley Martin; and seven great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:30 A.M. at Stafford Springs Cemetery, Monson Rd., Stafford Springs, CT. In lieu flowers, the family requests donations in Ted’s memory be made to Home & Community Health Services Hospice Program, 140 Hazard Ave., P.O.
