Tom was one of the kindest and most admirable men I had ever met. I feel upset that I did not visit him this year to see his dog sledding museum. I met Tom through his dogs when I rescued Siberian Huskies. We first met after he agreed to adopt a female Siberian who desperately needed a home. He just went to the shelter and brought her home. He also told me I should call him if I ever came across a puppy. When I finally called him with news of a puppy, he hesitated initially. Then Joanne called out from the background, saying they wanted the puppy to ignore Tom and bring him to their home! They fell in love with Cody, just like all their other dogs. I always wished I had gotten into the sport myself after seeing him work with his dogs and hearing his stories. On one visit, Tom and Joanne took their team out for a run at Natchaug State Forest, and he let me take them out for a run - it was an unforgettable experience. Tom had a great sense of humor, and whenever you called him, he would make you question whether you had dialed the correct number, always ending in laughter. I miss talking to him, asking for advice, listening to his stories - and receiving their Christmas cards every year with pictures of his team—my prayers to you, Joanne, for your loss.
