Viljo Paakkonen's Obituary
Viljo E. Paakkonen, 88, of Conklin Rd., Stafford Springs, CT, loving husband of 54 years to Mary (Smith) Paakkonen, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at his home. He was born on October 28, 1922 in South Paris, ME, son of the late Otto and Hilma (Whitman) Paakkonen. Viljo graduated from Paris High School and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford as a machinist before retiring in 1978. He enjoyed genealogy and was proud of his Finnish heritage. Besides his wife, Viljo is survived by his son, Robert Paakkonen and his wife Brenda; and two grandchildren, Jamie and Brian Paakkonen. He was predeceased by a son, Keith Paakkonen; and a sister, Lempi Paakkonen. Funeral services with burial in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT, will be held privately.
