William K. Garrell Jr's Obituary
William K. Garrell, Jr., 95, of Stafford Springs, CT passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at Woodlake at Tolland. He was born in New London, CT, son of the late William K. and Mary (Moffatt) Garrell, Sr. He grew up in Hartford in a coldwater flat during the Great Depression. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Bill was very proud of his service to our country. He was also an amateur magician, and greatly enjoyed entertaining kids. Bill coached youth football in Stafford for many years. He was also a member of the Ellington Wesleyan Church. Bill is survived by his son, Kenneth Garrell and Kim Woods; five grandchildren, Yvonne, Samantha, Kevin, Daniel and Nathan; eight great grandchildren, Gabriel, Benjamin, Lydia, Anthony, John, Aubrey, Jocelyn and Louise; and his sister, Irene Light and her husband William. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Jean (Aborn) Garrell; son, Daniel Garrell; and two siblings, Merrill “Buddy” Jarrell and Vivian White. A graveside service and Military Honors will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 11 A.M. at Ellington Center Cemetery, 95 Maple St., Ellington, CT.
