William E. Matchett Jr.'s Obituary
William E. Matchett, Jr., 78, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. He was born in Manchester, CT, son of the late William E. Matchett, Sr. and Sadie (Lamb) Matchett. Bill was employed as a machinist and maintenance worker at Mal Tool in Manchester, CT until retirement. Also known as the “Apple Man”, Bill and his family owned and operated an apple and peach orchard on their farm for many years. He loved to work around his property, cutting wood, and doing whatever. Bill is survived by his two sisters, Phyllis Brothers and Patricia Clark; his special longtime friend, Allyn Bassett; and several nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 10-11 A.M. with a funeral service to take place at 11 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Bill was a kind and thoughtful soul, rest in peace Apple Man.
