William Warmington's Obituary
Dr. William H. Warmington, 96, of Stafford Springs, CT, passed away on April 29, 2010 with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years Enes G. Warmington. Bill was born April 5 1914 in Quincy, MA, the son of the late William E. Warmington and Elizabeth (Furnald) Warmington. He grew up in Waterbury CT, graduating from Crosby High School and the Pennsylvania State College of Optometry in 1937. Bill opened his optometry practice in Stafford Springs in 1938, retiring in 1984 after 46 years. He was a member of the Connecticut Optometric Society, the American Optometric Society, the New England Council of Optometry, and was a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. For ten years, he served on the Connecticut State Board of Examiners of Optometry and was active in local, civic and fraternal affairs. Bill was a charter member of the Stafford Rotary Club since 1942 and had served as the club’s treasurer and president and was presented the Paul Harris award. He was past president of the Stafford Library Association, a Trustee of the Stafford Savings Bank, a member and former Trustee of the Stafford Springs Congregational Church as well as a member of the Ionic Lodge No. 110A.F&A.M. and the Adoniram Chapter No. 10 R.A.M. Bill enjoyed music, both instrumental and vocal, playing both the Saxophone and clarinet and singing with the Rockville Chapter of Barber Shoppers and a member of the Mill Town Four Barbershop Quartet. In addition, Bill enjoyed playing golf, bowling, refinishing furniture and writing poems for family and friends. After retiring in 1984, he delivered meals on wheels in Stafford Springs. Bill will always be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and love of life. Bill is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Lucey and her husband Robert of Stafford Springs, CT, and Judith Warmington of Danville, CA; three grandchildren, Edward Bresnahan and his wife Jane of Sudbury, MA, Susan Bresnahan and Scott Bresnahan of Stafford Springs, CT; and one great grandson, Ryan Bresnahan. We wish to give special thanks to Maria Studzienna, his kind and thoughtful caregiver for many years. A calling hour will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010 from 1-2 P.M. with a funeral service to take place at 2 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Bill to Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, P.O.
