Zabien Jesse Wolfgang Shaw's Obituary
Zabien Jesse Wolfgang Shaw, 28, of Stafford Springs, CT passed away on February 19th, 2025. He was born on October 14, 1996, in Greenfield, MA. He graduated from Mahar Regional High School in 2015. During his time there, he excelled in cross-country and track, setting multiple school records and serving as captain of his teams.
After high school, Zabien briefly attended Bridgewater State University, where he was a student-athlete before deciding to embark on new adventures. He first found that with Starbucks, where his talent and competitive nature quickly set him apart, earning him a reputation as an exceptional barista.
In 2019, Zabien moved to Vancouver, WA, where the Pacific Northwest truly became his home. It was there that he flourished, both personally and professionally. He earned his EMT certification. Later he joined Amazon. As a part of their Away Team he traveled to many destinations including the Grand Canyon, Sonoran Desert, and Miami Beach. When he was not working, Zabien still prioritized exploring new places. His most recent adventure was his first cruise to the Bahamas, with his coworkers-turned-friends from Amazon.
Zabien is survived by his former long-time partner, Sam Pierce, and their dog, Mylo, of Manchester, NH; his chosen family, Jen Langley and Greg Scotland of Washington State; his sister, Nadia Simler of Indiana; and his brothers, Ash Shaw of Virginia, Sebastian Shaw, and Griffin Shaw of Orange, MA. He is also survived by numerous close friends and extended family who played a significant role in his life.
Zabien will be remembered for his dedication to those he loved, and his ability to make everyone around him feel special. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A celebration of his life will be held on July 19th, 2025 in Massachusetts. The venue and other additional details are to be announced.
