Dennis L. Hodgin's Obituary
Dennis L. Hodgin, 86, of Stafford Springs, Connecticut, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on February 26, 1940 to Mary Magdalene Maloney and Wallace Hodgin. He grew up in New Paris, Ohio, where he graduated high school. He lived in Richmond, Indiana from 1958 to 1965. He served in the US Army reserves from 1959 to 1965 and was recalled to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis for one year. In 1965 he graduated from Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
From 1965 to 1999 Dennis worked as an Aerospace Engineer at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Connecticut.
He was married to Penelope Mariner from 1969 to 2007. They had two daughters Traci and Amanda. They moved to Stafford Springs in 1973, where Dennis owned the 200-acre Tray Hollow Tree Farm. Dennis served as president of the Eastern Connecticut Forest Landowners Association from 2003 to 2007. He served as co-chair of the School Building Committee in the construction of Stafford Middle School and improvements to four other schools from 1988 to 2013. He also served on the Stafford Springs Wetland Commission for 30 years.
Dennis is survived by his daughters Traci Hodgin and Amanda Hodgin of Manchester, Connecticut, his brother-in-law David Weston of Tennessee, nephew Scott Weston of Indiana, and his close friend, Michelle HadjSalem of Stafford Springs. He is pre-deceased by his sister Marianne Weston.
Dennis was a good man. We will miss him.
